Wednesday, February 9 – Edfu, Kom Ombo

Following breakfast, you go with your Egyptologist to being touring, with your first destination being Edfu. Edfu was one of several temples built during the Ptolemaic Kingdom from the 3rd to 1st century BC, including the Dendera Temple complexEsna, the Temple of Kom Ombo, and Philae. Its size reflects the relative prosperity of the time.

Built between the 1st and 2nd centuries, BC, Kom Ombo Temples are unique because their double’ design meant that there were courts, halls, sanctuaries and rooms duplicated for two sets of gods. The carvings on the columns depict life in ancient Egypt and the state of preservation and remaining colors are truly something to behold.
