Friday, February 3 – Arrive Cairo International Airport
Upon your arrival in Cairo airport, you will be met by one of our colleagues who will help you through the process of clearing baggage claim and customs. You will then be transferred to your hotel in central Cairo. Depending upon your time of arrival into Cairo, we can have your Egyptologist begin touring with you today…or you can use the day to relax and recover from your flights.

Saturday, February 4 – Cairo
This morning, you will be joined by one of our Cairo based Egyptologists who will spend the day with us. Among today’s touring will include the huge collection of artifacts and antiquities at the Egyptian Museum, which include the treasures of King Tutankhamen. Touring will also include the Citadel of Saladin and the mosque of Mohamed.

Following lunch, we walk through Cairo’s fabled Khan-el-Khalil bazaar, following by a drive to old Fustat, the ancient area of Cairo where visit the Coptic Church and the Ben Ezra synagogue

Afternoon return to our hotel where you can walk around on your own to enjoy urban Cairo. Dinner and overnight in Cairo. Overnight in Cairo. (B,L,D)

Sunday, February 5 – Cairo
Today’s touring will include the Pyramids of Sakkara and Giza. Should you wish to hop on a camel for a brief activity and photo op, there will be no shortage of camel owners ready to offer their services. A nice experience if you have never done so. Lunch in the area of Giza as we continue our touring. Tonight, dinner will be independent. There are plenty of choices convenient to your hotel. We will provide dining suggestions Overnight in Cairo. Monday, February 6 – Luxor
This morning you have an early flight to Luxor where you will meet, Magdy, an Egyptologist based in the region who will remain with you until you cruise to Aswan. Our Cairo team will arrange your transfer to the airport and provide a boxed breakfast for you to enjoy at the airport.
Once you arrive in Luxor, you will be met by your Luxor based Egyptologist, Magdy, to begin touring locally. Should the idea of doing an optional balloon ride appeal to you, this would be the time to take that option, prior to boarding your cruise ship.
Your morning touring will include visiting Karnak and the Luxor Temples.
You then board your cruise ship and follow the stops of the cruise ship, but will have your own Egyptologist as your guide, thus precluding you from needing to follow the touring time schedule of the large cruise ship buses.

Tuesday, February 7 – Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut temple, Colossi of Emnon
Today’s touring will take you to the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Emnon. Overnight on the ship. (B, L, D)

Wednesday, February 8 – Edfu, Kom Ombo
Following breakfast, you go with your Egyptologist to being touring, with your first destination being Edfu. Edfu was one of several temples built during the Ptolemaic Kingdom from the 3rd to 1st century BC, including the Dendera Temple complex, Esna, the Temple of Kom Ombo, and Philae. Its size reflects the relative prosperity of the time.

Built between the 1st and 2nd centuries, BC, Kom Ombo Temples are unique because their double’ design meant that there were courts, halls, sanctuaries and rooms duplicated for two sets of gods. The carvings on the columns depict life in ancient Egypt and the state of preservation and remaining colors are truly something to behold.

Thursday, February 9 – The Temple of Philae, the High Dam of Aswan and on the Nile…
This morning following breakfast, your first touring begins with Philae, an island in the lower Aswan Dam region.

Following your visit to the High Dam of Aswan, you will have a leisurely cruise on the Nile in a felucca, providing a vantage point very different from being on land.
Tonight, there will be local entertainment on our cruise ship.

Friday, February 10 – flight to Cairo
This morning, we have a flight back to Cairo, giving you time to further explore this overcrowded metropolis of nearly ten-million people.
Our farewell dinner will be at our hotel, the Intercontinental City Star.

Saturday, February 11 – Egypt departure
Depending upon your respective flights, you will transfer to the Cairo International Airport for your return flight to the US, or you chosen destination. (B)
