A CUBAN FANTASY TOUR!
Day 1, Saturday – arrival
Upon your arrival in Havana, you will be met at the airport by our English-speaking Cuban guide. Transfer to your hotel in the Vedado district and this evening, join your fellow travelers for your “Welcome Dinner”. Dinner and overnight in Havana. (D)
Day 2, Sunday – Havana
This morning, your touring begins with a visit to old Havana, the historical hear of this World Heritage city. Your visit will include the Catedral, Plaza de Armas, San Francisco de Asis square and Casa del Nino y la Nina. Lunch will be in a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, take a tour of parts of Havana in a vintage American car before returning to your hotel. Dinner tonight is independent to let you enjoy Havana’s burgeoning culinary scene. Suggestions will be provided. (B, L)
Day 3, Monday – Havana
Today your touring takes you to other neighborhoods of Havana, including the art-filled Fusterlandia, which has received the artistic support from noted Cuban artist, Jose Fuster. You will also visit Revolution Square, the Colon Cemetery with its monumental tombs honoring many of Cuba’s past and then a drive to the La Yoandra farm, where organic farming is the method. One of the arborists who maintain the over 100 indigenous fauna that are cultivated for food production as well as for ecological preservation will tell us about it. This farm is part of network of sustainable community operated farms. The crops are also used to sustain the co-owned privately-owned restaurant Il Divino, where you will enjoy lunch.
Following lunch, visit the Murealando Project, a community program where the residents took a trash dump, combined their skills as tradespeople and hard work to create a wonderful neighborhood. They promote art and music and you will have the opportunity to bear witness to some of this, as well as learning some Salsa dance routines. Dinning tonight is again independent, with numerous suggestions to guide you. Overnight in Havana. (B, L)
Day 4, Tuesday – Santa Clara/Cienfuegos
Following breakfast, check out of your hotel and drive to Santa Clara, where you visit the Che Guevara Monument. After a stop for lunch, continue on to Cienfuegos, known as the Pearl of the South, with its location on a beautiful bay. You will visit the central part of Cienfuegos, a city founded by French colonists. Visit the Jose Martin Square, Tomas Terry Theater, Cultural Property house and Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Afternoon check-in to your hotel with dinner and overnight in Cienfuegos. Day 5, Wednesday – Trinidad
This morning you depart Cienfuegos for Trinidad, a colonial city, founded in 1514 and declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1998. Your walking tour of Trinidad includes visits to the Plaza Mayor, the Romantic Museum and La “CanchanchAfteara” Bar, where you can enjoy a Cuban cocktail. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Afternoon check-in to your hotel with dinner and overnight in Trinidad. (B, L, D)
Day 6 , Thursday – Trinidad
Today’s agenda include a visit to Valle de los Ingenios, a maternity home and a regular village school. Afternoon return to the hotel with dinner and your evening being independent. Overnight in Trinidad. (B, L)
Day 7, Friday – return to Havana
You have an early departure from Trinidad as you drive back to Havana, stopping en route in Guama, which is located in the Zapata Peninsula. You will have the opportunity to visit a crocodile breeding farm, where thousands of crocodiles are fed. Lunch will be at a local restaurant, followed by your return to Havana, where you visit the National Art Gallery. Late afternoon check-in to your Havana hotel and gather this evening for your “Farewell Dinner”. Overnight in Havana. (B, L, D)
Day 8, Saturday – Havana departure
A transfer will be arranged to the airport for your departure flight. (B)
